Happy Sunday, Foodies! This is a recipe I’ve been totally loving this week. Normally I’m a savoury breakfast person and stick to my roasted veggie bowls with an egg, but last weekend I decided to pull out the ol’ waffle iron and make something different for a change.
They only contain a few simple ingredients for a whole lot of flavour! They freeze really well so they’re great to make a big batch at a time and freeze to enjoy for a quick breakfast throughout the week.
As much as I’m a big maple syrup person (naturally because I am Canadian, eh), I’ve been loving these waffles with sunflower seed butter and homemade strawberry jam! Rather than just eating them like a regular waffle, they also make a great savoury “toast” too. I am being grainless, when was the last time you got to enjoy cinnamon toast?! So this recipe totally does the trick for that too!
That being said, get creative with your toppings! Top with anything your heart desires – syrup, honey, nut butters, seeds, coconut, berries, chocolate and more!
This recipe is gluten free, grain free, paleo, vegan and refined sugar free!

Grainless Chia Cinnamon Waffle Recipe:
Make: 4 large waffles (depending on your waffle iron)
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 times
- 1 3/4 cups almond flour
- 2/3 cup tapioca starch
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 3 tbsp chia seeds
- 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 cup avocado oil
- 1 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
- Pinch salt
- Preheat your waffle iron.
- Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- Pour 1/3 cup of the waffle batter into the waffle iron (depending on the size of your waffle maker – do what’s as directed in your instruction manual)
- Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden. Repeat until batter is gone.
Enjoy right away or freeze to enjoy all week. If frozen, just pop waffles into the toaster before topping!
