Grainless Chicken Nugget

There’s been a lot of trial and error in my kitchen in hopes of creating the perfect grainless chicken nugget… Well folks, I finally figured it out! These nugget taste just like McDonald’s, but are 100% healthier! This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, paleo,  and refined sugar free.

Grainless Chicken Nugget Recipe

Yields: 3-4 Servings

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 15 minutes


  • ¾ cup tapioca starch

  • 1/3 cup almond flour

  • 1 egg

  • 3 tbsp avocado oil

  • 1 tsp pink himalayan salt

  • 3 tbsp water (add more as needed)

  • 2 chicken breasts

Topping Sauce Ideas:

  • Honey

  • Hot Sauce

  • BBQ Sauce

  • Plum Sauce

  • Ketchup


  1. Cut chicken into bite sized pieces.

  2. In a large mixing bowl combine tapioca starch, almond flour, egg, 1 tbsp oil, salt and water. Mix well. Add more water in tablespoon amounts as needed. (You don’t want the batter to be too runny.)

  3. Heat a skillet on the stovetop and add in remaining oil.

  4. Coat chicken pieces with batter. (I found it easiest to use my hands to coat it)

  5. Once coated place in skillet. Fry for about 5 minutes on each side until the chicken is fully cooked.

  6. Serve with you favourite dipping sauce.
