Grainless Chocolate Banana Nut Protein Muffins

Rootz Nutrition Complete Stack Review:

Over the years, I’ve tried my fair share of protein powders. When I first started using them during university, I would hit up my local Nutrition House and grab whatever whey protein was on sale or what the sales people recommended that day. I’ve tried quite a few brands and flavours, but  always found them very heavy on my stomach and could never get used to the distinct whey flavour. As I began to be more health conscious and cut down on dairy (other than some cheese here and there – I just can’t give up a good charcuterie board), I started searching for healthier vegan options. Vegan brands didn’t make me full as bloated compared to whey, but the taste just still wasn’t there.

When Rootz Nutrition sent me their Complete Stack pack, which includes the Raspberry Lemonade Pre-Workout and Chocolate Banana Nut Post-Workout blend, I was pretty excited to give it a try. *I also just want to clarify, I’m by no means a fitness guru, so I’m just speaking from my personal experience*. The only pre-workout I had tried in the past had left me feeling too jittery for my liking and I wasn’t a fan of all the chemicals.

The first thing I did when the package reached my door was check out the ingredient lists, and I must say, they are quite impressive! All Rootz products are 100% Paleo and contain high-quality natural, chemical-free ingredients!

Raspberry Lemonade Pre-Workout:

The pre-work out is mixed just like any other on the market – combine a scoop of powder in approximately 8 oz. of water and consume 20 minutes before a workout. I really like the taste and within ten minutes of drinking, it provide nice boost of energy without jitters. I prefer working out in the moring, but struggle to get my butt out of bed so early. After a couple days of using Rootz Pre-Workout, I was actually excited to get up in the morning (even without a morning coffee first)! Before Rootz, it had been awhile since I had used a pre-workout. I instantly noticed the extra energy it provided when both lifting and doing cardio – I definitely can’t go without it now!

Chocolate Banana Nut Post-Workout

Chances are you saw my post on social media for muffins, so know you’re here searching for the recipe – HINT: this is the secret ingredient! Don’t let “Nut” in the name throw you off, this product is actually nut free, other than coconut! One scoop contains 14 grams of protein and 97 calories. One thing I want to note here – I’ve had friends look at the product and mention the calorie count, keep in mind those low-cal options in other powders are due to chemicals and artificial sweeteners. I try to get this in within an hour of a workout by simply using one scoop of powder, mixed with 10-12oz. of unsweetened almond milk. It’s SOOOOO delicious! Hands down the best tasting protein powder that I’ve ever tried. The taste is perfect and leaves me feeling very satisfied.

Since the taste is so amazing, it inspired me to start making “protein” treats that are easy to grab and go on those busy days. The first recipe I made was Chocolate Banana Nut Protien Pancakes, and oh boy they are good! For my second recipe I made Chocolate Banana Nut Muffins (see recipe below).
