Grainless Chocolate Protein Brownies

Don’t let the black bean base throw you off. These brownies do not taste like beans in any way! They are the perfect fudgey, chewie brownie. The best part is they are packed full of protein, contain no grains and are refined sugar free.This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, soy free, nut free, vegan, vegetarian and refined sugar free.

Grainless Brownie Recipe:


  • 1 can black beans, (rinsed and drained)

  • 2 flax eggs (see not below to make flax egg)

  • 3 tsp coconut oil, melted

  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup raw organic cane sugar

  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • Optional toppings: crush walnuts, pecans or semisweet chocolate chips


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Lightly grease a standard size muffin pan

  3. Prepare flax egg in a small bowl (see note below). Place in fridge for 5 minutes.

  4. In a for processor add black beans, coconut oil, cocoa powder, salt, vanilla, sugar and baking powder. Mix well, scraping sides until fully blended. Add in flax egg mix completely.

  5. Once you have a thick batter, evenly distribute into the muffin tin.

  6. Optional: Sprinkle with crushed walnuts, pecans or chocolate chips.

  7. Bake for 20-26 minutes. I cooked mine for 25 until the tops looked nice and cooked.

  8. Remove from oven and let cool for 30 minutes before removing from pan.

  9. Store in an airtight container. Store in fridge or freezer to keep longer.

*Note* – To make 1 flax egg combine 1tbsp of ground flaxseed and 2 1/2 tbsp of water. Mix well and let sit for a few minutes.
